Golden Cup è il progetto solista di Luca Massolin. Nato in Italia, attualmente residente in Portogallo, Luca genera i suoi soundscapes con strumenti a corda (chitarra, basso, mandolino), voce e strumentazione analogica. Affascinato dai lavori dei pionieri della musica elettronica, le sue influenze vanno dal rock chitarristico degli anni ’70 alle dilatazioni della musica cosmica, passando per il minimalismo e il free-jazz. Luca ha suonato in più di 20 paesi in Europa, Medio-Oriente, USA, condividendo studio e palchi con artisti del calibro di Takeisha Kosugi, John Paul Jones, Sonic Youth, Sachiko, The Merce Cunningham Dance Company, Stefan Neville. Ha pubblicato per etichette internazionali tra le quali: Blackest Rainbow, Digitalis, Qbico, Peasant Magik, Utmarken, Holidays. Dal 2002 gestisce l’etichetta ‘8mm records’, che promuove con edizioni limitate musica free, impro, underground proveniente da tutto il mondo.

I Primordial Undermind hanno scandagliato per anni le regioni più profonde dell’avant-rock: il loro leader Eric Arn ha iniziato la sua carriera nei leggendari Crystalized Movements (poi diventati Magic Hour + The Major Stars). Sin dai primi anni ’90 il gruppo si caratterizza per non avere una formazione stabile, e per un suono che è una costante progressione da masse distorte e psichedeliche che si trasformano in devastante free rock strumentale, drones e esperimenti elettroacustici: un flusso sonoro estatico. La musica scorre senza soluzione di continuità dalle corde della chitarra di Eric Arn che illumina come i raggi di un’astronave i mondi sonori esplorati dai Primordial Undermind. Dopo essersi spostati da Austin (Texas) a Vienna, il gruppo ha realizzato l’acclamato “Loss of Affect” (2006) sull’etichetta Strange Attractors Audio House. All’inizio del 2011 uscirà il loro settimo album, sempre su Strange Attractors, “Last Worldly Bond”. Un’esperienza che sta per festeggiare i 20 anni di attività e che non ha perso nulla della carica sotterranea che aveva all’inizio.
